...LIVING A GOURMET DREAM

Ever have a wacky idea come to you from "out of the blue?" "That's exactly what happened to Sarah Auman, owner of Out Of The Blue Gourmet Living in downtown Blue Ridge. One spring day in 2002, as she relaxed with a book in her hammock on her cabin's screened porch, that phrase leapt off the page and rolled around in her mind, causing her to think, "that's what I'll name my shop some day." Like many others, Sarah originally came to Blue Ridge to relax on weekends and occasionally go into town to pick up a few gifts for friends. When she began to recognize that "there's something magical about Blue Ridge," she started escaping from Atlanta as often as she could, and bought her second home here in 1999. "Out Of The Blue is an experience, not just a shop," said Sarah. "Selling in the South is really about visiting. " And visit you should, if you're seeking fine French linens, enjoy gathering friends and family around a beautifully set table and adorning your home with unique accoutrements, and more. If food is your passion, you'll want to gather around the beautiful granite countertop for the next cooking demonstration in Out Of The Blue's kitchen. With the help of some of the finest chefs and artists in North Georgia, Out Of The Blue is able to offer cooking demonstrations and classes, as well as food tastings every Saturday and Sunday. After three successful years in its current location, Out Of The Blue is now deeply ingrained in the Blue Ridge community. Through its commitment, experience and expertise, Out Of The Blue has established relationships with its customers that will last a lifetime. "We're a part of our customers' lives here," Sarah says. "This community really matters to us and our business, and we're very involved in it."
